ArtBistro Reputation Score Improvements

ArtBistro.com is improving the way we calculate your reputation score and award reputation points. These improvements will include a recalculation of your previous score to ensure accuracy. Previously we calculated scores with a “diminishing return” system, making it harder for reputation leaders to increase their scores as they accrued points. You will receive points for each and every action you take. Reputation points have been recalculated according to the system below:
Making Friends
Each Added Friend = 5
New Member Invites = 10
Posting Content
News Articles = 5
Videos = 5
Photos = 2
Training Articles = 7
Interacting on Site
Commenting = 2
Receiving a Comment = 2
New Discussion Topic = 3
New Discussion Posts = 2
Receiving Other User’s Ratings = 2
Reviewing a Product = 2
Taking a Quiz = 5
Along with this new reputation point system has come the long awaited fix to calculate comments and ratings received and given on images. This fix has changed the Leaderboard because now those points are being calculated. After you have checked your point totals please let me know if you feel you have lost during the old system. I will be able to restore points that you feel you have lost in a one time fix.
Discuss the improvements hereMembers with a high reputation score get special status. They get asked to moderate the forums, receive free products for review, and more.
Having a high reputation also lets others know you’re an active member of the community and makes you more visible for career networking opportunities.
Reputation Status Requirements Five stars: 50,000+ points Four stars: 10,000+ points Three stars: 2,000+ points Two Stars: 400+ points One Star: 80+ points
Have fun!

I'm not sure I like this any better than the last system. I decided from the start that I wasn't going to pay much attention to the points as people seemed to be point crazy and a lot of the activity being rated didn't seem to have much to do with actual art......lots of people making lots of friends, which is not a bad thing, but it seemed to be all that quite a few people did. I'm not in this site to win popularity contests, I am here to meet and confer with my art peers. I end up doing a lot of things on this site that don't accrue points so the new system will likely be as useless to me as the last. I lack the time in my life to get on here a lot, due to my work mostly, so it makes me appear unactive compared to many folks. But maybe the point system helps some folks somehow, so I'll wait and see what happens.

Actually Valerie, the thumb's down is not for the articles composition or for its delightful author - but is intended toward the content. The new point system is worse than the last fiasco.
